Crispy tater tots smothered in creamy sausage gravy and topped with melted cheddar for the ultimate comfort breakfast.

# What You Need:

→ Base

01 - 4 cups frozen tater tots

→ Sausage Gravy

02 - 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
03 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
04 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
05 - 3 cups whole milk, warmed
06 - ½ teaspoon salt
07 - ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
08 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
09 - ½ teaspoon onion powder

→ Toppings

10 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
11 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - Bake tater tots according to package directions until crispy and golden. Keep warm.
02 - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside, leaving about 2 tablespoons of drippings in the pan.
03 - Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, whisk in flour to form a roux and cook for 1 minute.
04 - Slowly pour in the warm milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
05 - Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
06 - Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir into the gravy. Keep warm on low heat.
07 - Place a generous serving of tater tots in a bowl, ladle hot sausage gravy over them, and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
08 - Garnish with parsley if desired and serve immediately for the ultimate breakfast comfort meal.

# Additional Tips:

01 - For best results, ensure tater tots are extra crispy to hold up under the gravy.
02 - The gravy can be made ahead and reheated gently with a splash of milk if needed.
